I just really don't know. To Tom or not to Tom, that is the question. Sometimes I think they're cute, other times I think that these are the ugliest pieces of fabric and ecologically-sound materials masquerading as footwear, ever conceived. Either way, I am left thinking that there is something redeming-and that I will shell out $45 for a pair. This pair from the spring line though, I will make an exception for; they are red, striped, and have rope detailing, and I'm sure at some point I will warm up to their wrap-centric aesthetic.
Now, I have always been a fan of the plaid J.Crew bags that look a lot like these from L.L.Bean, but I never liked the silver nail-head looking things where the blue triangles are on this version. I also never liked the skinnier shoulder strap on the J.Crew version, so this more classic rendition from L.L.Bean looks perfect! An added bonus-they are much cheaper; the mini is only $19 and the medium is $25-perfect for summer, and perfect in less than ideal economic times. Available on llbean.com
